The philosophy of OPTIMUM has always been built on the foundation of an evidence based approach; that is not to say that we only use methods that have gained scientific approval as many aspects of physiotherapy and sports medicine still await all the necessary research to make an informed decision.
We consistently witness training and treatment methods being used by both the public and some 'professionals' that have either been misinterpreted or just being applied with a lack of understanding of the underlying concept. The outcome of this is that at best, the clients goals are never reached, although unfortunately, more often than not the outcome is actually an injury or performance reduction.
We are therefore attempting to develop this part of our site to try and address this by providing as much educational content as we can. If you have any ideas or information of conferences of course that you feel would benefit others within our industry then please email us.
Many of our staff continue with their development via formal educational avenues, such as PhD, MSc's, Post Graduate Certificates and Undergradaute studies.
Dean Payne BSc (Hons) MCSP CSCS (Optimum's CEO) is currently undertaking his PhD at Imperial College London, Mark Mansfield BSc (Hons) MCSP (Head of Clinical Practice) is undertaking his PgCert in Orthopaedic Medicine, Lucinda Deekes BSc (Hons) is just finishing her Level 5 (Sports Massage Association) qualification and Scott Hills (PT) is 12 months into his BSc (Hons) in Sports Science, so as you can see, we practice what we preach!
