Sports injuries in juniors are no less serious than in adults but for parents who may have more than 1 child playing sport at school or the weekends, seeking specific advice and treatment at regular physiotherapy practices can be costly. We are trying to overcome this barrier at OPTIMUM by opening the 'OPTIMUM Junior Sports Injury Clinic' at both our Luton and Bedford practices which will offer these services for junior athletes under the age of 16 years, at a reduced cost.
Your child's injuries can be anything from contact injuries as a result of a tackle in football or rugby, or overuse traumas that affect the bone, ligaments and tendons, to soft tissue injuries that can occur through PE at school. Injuries can occur during a sporting activity but may also be due to an everyday musculo-skeletal condition that requires treating. Our sports injury clinic offers high standards of care, which is reflected in the treatment provided by our specialist physiotherapists/sport therapists. We offer a highly specialised service to junior athletes at all levels and of all abilities from the age of 10-16 years old.
The clinic provides:
We can also offer the following investigations: X-ray, MRI scanning and in-house diagnostic ultrasound.
Our aim is to return your child to normal fitness as quickly as possible by providing a recovery programme that is tailored to their individual needs. At their first appointment a detailed history will be taken, followed by a thorough assessment. They will receive expert advice and treatment and we will provide them with a personal recovery programme tailored to their needs. Our therapists can also refer you and your child to a consultant and can arrange access to diagnostic facilities where necessary. Your therapist can liase with your GP and provide them with a detailed discharge summary at the end of your treatment if required.
All treatments are led by Performance Director Dean Payne BSc Hons MCSP CSCS and a team of chartered physiotherapists and sports therapists. Dean has had the experience of working within professional football and rugby as well as being a University lecturer in sports rehabilitation, while currently undertaking his PhD (Biodynamics) at Imperial College London.
Initial Assessment - £20
