Osteopathy

Are you living with pain? Osteopathy can help. Take your first steps today and make a call on 0844 736 1806 to book a 1 hour consultation.  An osteopath aims to treat the cause of the condition which is presented, not merely the symptoms. Osteopaths take a holistic approach by looking at the body as whole to bring optimum structural balance.

Common complaints presented to an osteopath include:

  •       Back and neck pain
  •       Shoulder and arm problems
  •       Repetitive strain injury
  •       Postural problems
  •       Pain of arthritis
  •       Pelvis, hip and leg problems
  •       Sports injuries

Patients have however found Osteopathy helpful with other conditions.

Normally at your first visit Aranee, our osteopath, will ask you questions about your problem, and will perform and in depth postural analysis. This is required to attain correct diagnosis as your complaint may not be from the area of concern but be related to elsewhere in the body. First an osteopath will observe you whilst standing then palpate areas of the body to find the tissues causing pain. Later the osteopath may ask you to do some movements to observe your range of motion and may also move your joints passively while you are relaxed.  Special tests may also be performed to identify painful structures. If necessary the osteopath may refer you to your doctor for further tests such as X-rays or blood tests.

At consultation which last between 45-60 minutes there is normally time for treatment which would include advanced soft tissue techniques, mobilisation or manipulation. After initial consultation subsequent treatments will be for 30-40 minutes.
